The Shorey House is one of the most historically significant homes in West Oakland. Originally built in 1875, the house was obtained by the Shorey family in 1888.

Mills Act

The Shorey House due to its historical significance has been approved to be included in the second batch of Oakland homes to qualify for the Mills Act. The Mills Act reduces the property tax burden and in return the Association will enact a number of improvements to continue the restoration of the house to the turn of the century.
